American Legion Pennsylvania Auxiliary Scholarship for Children of Living Veterans

If you live in Pennsylvania, are a high school senior, and have a parent who is a veteran of the U.S. Military, this one is for you!!! To be eligible you must be able to provide proof of your need for financial aid to pursue your college education. The award is for $600 a year for up to four years. Horatio Alger Franklin Scholarship Program
Horatio Alger Pennsylvania Scholarship Program

If you are a high school senior who has already faced and overcome great obstacles in your life, you need to take a closer look at these programs.

Other requirements include Pennsylvania residency; that you be able to demonstrate financial need; that you have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and have a record of high academic achievement; that you are serious-minded in your approach to your future; and, that you are community service orientated. Along with your completed application you will need to submit an essay, copy of your transcript, a letter of support, and an income statement. These scholarships may be used for full time undergraduate study at any accredited 2 or 4-year college in the United States. There is no specified major field of study. Pennsylvania Robert C. Byrd Honors

College is a big step, but you are ready for it! So, before it’s too late, why not apply for a scholarship to help out? The amount of this award varies from year to year, but is renewable beyond your freshman year. It is to be applied to full time undergraduate study at any 2 or 4-year institution in the United States. To apply you must be a high school senior living in Pennsylvania. You must have a record of outstanding academic achievement with GPA of at least 3.5, 1150 on the SAT or 25 on the ACT. or 3550 GED. Pennsylvania State Grant Program

This is a grant and, unlike a loan, never needs to be repaid. These funds are designated for graduating high school students who live in the state, and can prove need for financial assistance by completing the free FSFSA application on line (details in ‘note’ on previous page). The amounts of these grants vary from year to year based on funding. They may be used at any accredited vocational, 2 or 4-year school in the state, and are transferable to other states. Highmark

If you are interested in a career in healthcare, and many of its related fields, you should check this out!! Funds provided by these awards must be spent at Pennsylvania State System of Education universities. The amount of the award is $1,000, and multiple awards are given. Eligibility requirements include proof of need for financial assistance. This may be obtained by completing the free FSFSA application on line (details in ‘note’ on previous page). You may visit the website, www.thepafoundation.org, for a list of the approved colleges and universities. Then inquire at your preferred institution for more details and application requirements.

James Hughes Memorial

Philadelphia graduating seniors with good scholastic records – minimum 2.0 GPA – and who need financial assistance to continue their education are qualified for this scholarship. Amounts of these awards range from $750 to $1,500, and may be used at Pennsylvania State System of Education institutions.
