New Hampshire Scholarships and Grants

Calling all New Hampshire High School Seniors!!! In the middle of the busiest school year you’ve ever had, take a minute and think about a scholarship to help out with the financial needs of a college education. Past President’s Parley Nurses’ Scholarship

If you always wanted to grow up and be a nurse, now’s your chance!!! And if you are the child of a veteran of the U.S. military, even better. To apply you must live in New Hampshire, prove that you will require financial assistance to pursue your college education, plan to major in nursing, and be graduating from high school. There will be one scholarship provided to a student planning to become a Registered Nurse, and another to a student planning to be a Licensed Practical Nurse. Awards range from $300-$400. Christa McAuliffe Memorial

This program was created to honor the first teacher scheduled to teach from space – Christa McAuliffe – who, along with the rest of the 7-man crew, perished in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster shortly after lift off in January 1986. Today this program stands as a tribute to her love of teaching by offering loans to qualified students majoring in education who are residents of New Hampshire.

Besides being an education major, students must be a high school senior with a record of high academic achievement. Requirements for application are an essay, transcript, letters of recommendation and resume. This scholarship is in the amount of $1,000. Please visit the website for more details: www.nhlegion.org.

Department of New Hampshire

This award is intended for freshman study at an accredited 4-year college or university. To apply, you must live in-state, and a parent must be a participating member of the American Legion. Other application requirements include letters of recommendation, a transcript showing a high degree of academic achievement, an essay, and your resume. The amount of this scholarship is $1,000. Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa

Do you love to cook? Do you imagine yourself in the hotel or restaurant management industry? Then read on. This scholarship awards $2,500 for study in culinary arts, food production/management, food science and technology, and hotel/restaurant management. If you are a graduating senior and this is your passion, go on line – www.jamesbeard.org – and learn more about how to apply. You must be a resident of New Hampshire, and you will have to submit letters of recommendation, an essay, and transcript with your application.

New England Board of Higher Education Tuition Break Regional Student Program

If you wish to major in a field of study that is not offered at a New Hampshire school, but is in other New England public colleges or universities – this is for you! Go to the website for more details and how to apply: www.nebhe.org/tuitionbreak.

New Hampshire Incentive Program

If you live in-state and can demonstrate your need for financial assistance, you need to look into this program. If you meet the qualifications, funds provided, ranging from $125 to $1,000, may be used in any accredited 2 or 4-year eligible institution in New England. Student eligibility requirements include proof of eligibility and completion of the free FSFSA application (see ‘note’ on previous page for full details). MASSgrant Program

This is a grant available to students in the greater New England area who can demonstrate their need for financial assistance to continue their education. You will need to complete the free FSFSA application, (see ‘note’ on previous page for details). Additionally, the applicant’s family should have an expected family contribution of $4,041 or less, and must be eligible for Title IV financial aid. The grant may be renewed, but the student must maintain an adequate GPA each year to reapply. Amounts range from $300 to $2,400. For more details, go to www.osfa.mass.edu.

New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation Leaf Loan Program

Unlike the other opportunities noted above, this is a loan, and will therefore require re-payment upon graduation. To apply you must reside in New Hampshire and be at least 18 years of age. Loans range from $500 to $10,000. For more information, check out the website: www.nhheaf.org.
