Kansas Scholarships and Grants

Are you a high school senior? If you are, you are on the verge of your greatest journey in life, thus far – it’s time to go to college! And, couldn’t you use a little financial help about now? There is an amazing amount of scholarship and grant money just floating out there, waiting for someone like you to claim it.

Albert M. Lappin

Do you have a parent who has been member of an American Legion Kansas Unit for at least the last three years, or a deceased member? If so, you might be eligible for this scholarship. You must reside in Kansas. Application requirements include letters of recommendation, essay, transcript, proof of eligibility, photo of yourself, and income tax forms. Scholarship awards are made for a maximum amount of $1,000, and may be used at 2-yuear or 4-year eligible colleges, universities, and vocational schools in Kansas. Charles and Annette Hill

Much like the one listed above, qualified applicants must reside in Kansas, and must be a descendant of an American Legionnaire who has been a member for at least three years, or be a descendant of a deceased member. You must be planning a career in science, engineering, or business management or administration. Other application requirements include letters of recommendation and an essay, transcript showing a minimum GPA of 3.0, proof of eligibility, income tax forms, and a photo of yourself. Kansas Comprehensive Grant

There is a major benefit to a grant – you never have to pay it back! So – if you qualify – it can be your ticket to an excellent education at a fraction of the cost. This is a renewable scholarship intended for full-time undergrad study at an accredited 4-year university or college. To qualify you must reside in Kansas, and demonstrate your need for financial assistance. To do so, get on line at www.fafsa.ed.org and complete the free FAFSA application, noted above. This grant awards up to $1,100 to those attending public schools and up to $3,000 to those going to private institutions. Kansas Ethnic Minority

Are you a member of one of the ethnic minorities that is considered for this scholarship? If you are an Alaskan Native, Asian American, African American, Mexican American, Hispanic American, Puerto Rican, or American Indian – you qualify! You also must reside in Kansas, have a history of high academic achievement, and be able to demonstrate financial need in order to continue your education. To do so, first go on line and complete the FAFSA free application that determines financial need (see note above for more details). Next, in addition to your State of Kansas Student Aid Application, for which there is a $12 fee, you will need to provide proof of eligibility, nomination for this award, transcript indicating at least a 3.0 GPA, and proof of FAFSA. Kansas State

Are you a designated State Scholar, and able to demonstrate your need for financial assistance in order to pursue a college education? This award is for a very special student – one with a 3.9 GPA, and ACT scores of 29. If you meet these requirements, inquire to the:
