B. Bradford Barnes
If you are an exceptional student, are going to require financial help to go to school, and are interested in the University of Delaware, this scholarship is made for you! This is for a full-time student, and no declared area of interest is required. You must be a high school senior and a Delaware citizen. You need to be in the top 25% of your class, and have a total score of 1800 on the SAT. Application requires an essay, copy of your transcript, and a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can obtain this application by going to www.fafsa.org, and it’s completely free. Charles L. Hebner Memorial
This is a scholarship that will cover full tuition, fees, room and board, and books for a student in the top half of their class, who has a minimum combined score on the SAT of 1350. If you are selected for this award you will be attending the University of Delaware or Delaware State University. Preference will be given to students majoring in political science. Need is also a consideration. This is a renewable award.
Application requirements include an essay, transcript, and completed FAFSA, as noted in the above scholarship description. It can be obtained on line at the given e-mail address. Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others
As you think about college, if you fall into this category, you have one more chance to honor a mom or dad lost serving our country or community by taking advantage of this opportunity. To qualify for this award you must be at least 16 but no more than 24 years of age, and have lived in Delaware for at least the last three years. Eligible students must be the child of a member of the armed forces whose death was service related, who is or was a POW, or is officially MIA. Also included are state police officers whose death was service related, or an employee of the Department of Transportation working on the state highway system whose death was job related.
This is a renewable scholarship that covers full tuition. For further application information, please check the website www.doe.k12.de.us/high-ed. You must apply for this award at least four weeks before classes begin.
Robert C. Byrd Honors
College is a big step, but you are ready for it! So, before it’s too late, why not apply for a scholarship to help out? This particular scholarship, which awards $1,500, is renewable for up to three years. It applies to full time undergraduate study at a non-profit, regionally accredited university or college. To be eligible you must have demonstrated excellent academic skills by being in the top 25% of your graduating class, or be a GED recipient with a score of at least 300. You also must have a SAT score of at least 1800.

Christa McAuliffe Teacher Incentive Program
This program was created to honor the first teacher scheduled to teach from space – Christa McAuliffe – who, along with the rest of the 7-man crew, perished in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster shortly after lift off in January 1986. Today this program stands as a tribute to her love of teaching by offering loans to qualified students majoring in education who are residents of Delaware.
Besides being an education major, students must be a high school senior with a minimum combined SAT score of 1570, and rank in the top half of their class. Undergraduate students with a GPA of 2.75 may also apply for this program. Loans may not exceed the cost of tuition, fees and other direct costs. Loan may be repaid at the rate of one year teaching in a Delaware public school in exchange for one year of loan.

Delaware Nursing Incentive Program
If you’ve always wanted to be a nurse – this loan program is perfect for you! It is designed for study at accredited 2 or 4-year designated institutions with programs that lead to RN, LPN, or BSN certification. To qualify you must be a resident of the state and have a major career interest in the exciting field of nursing, and you must have previously demonstrated high academic skills. You have to be a high school senior in at least the top half of your graduating class, and have at least a 2.5 GPA.
This loan cannot be in excess of the cost of tuition, fees, and other expenses directly related to the cost of your education. Upon graduation, it can be forgiven at the rate of one year working in a state-owned clinic or hospital to forgive one year of loan.
