Past President’s Parley Nurses’ Scholarship

Caroline Thorn Kissel Summer Environmental Studies

This scholarship, administered by the Garden Club of America, is aimed at the student who intends to major in environmental science and attend college in the garden state of New Jersey. Along with the application you will need to submit letters of recommendation and an essay. The award is in the amount of $2,000. Horatio Alger New Jersey

If you are a high school senior who has already faced and overcome great obstacles in your life, you need to take a closer look at this program.

Other requirements include New Jersey residency; that you be able to demonstrate financial need; that you have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and have a record of high academic achievement; that you are serious-minded in your approach to your future; and, that you are service orientated. Along with your completed application you will need to submit an essay, copy of your transcript, a letter of support, and an income statement. The scholarship may be used for full time undergraduate study at any accredited 2 or 4-year college in the United States. There is no specified major field of study. Los Padres Foundation College Tuition Assistance Program

This is a renewable scholarship targeting in-state graduating high school seniors who are of Mexican American, Hispanic American or Puerto Rican descent. To be eligible you must have a GPA of 3.0, and be able to prove your need for financial assistance to continue your education. You must also have completed at least 100 hours of community service by June 1 of your freshman year in college. Your high school guidance counselor or the financial aid office at your chosen college should have further information regarding this generous scholarship of $2,000 per year. Dana Christmas Scholarship for Heroism

If you have ever been recognized for an act of heroism – read on. This scholarship honors young residents of New Jersey by providing funds for their college educations. The amount of this award is $5,000. If you qualify, you can obtain an application by calling HESAA at 1-800-792-8670, or visiting the website: www.hesaa.org.

New Jersey World Trade Center

If you reside in New Jersey, and are a dependent of a person lost in the World Trade Center on 9/11/01, you may be qualified for this scholarship. Included also are dependents of first responders and rescue workers who later died of illness caused by their work at that time. Awards are in the amount of $6,500. New Jersey Urban Scholars

This is a scholarship aimed at you students who, despite the hardships of growing up in urban and economically distressed circumstances, have worked hard and have achieved outstanding records of scholastic achievement. To be eligible you must have a GPA of at least 3.0, and you must be in the top 10% of your high school class. Amount of the award is $1,000.
