The Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE)

This Scholarship is for Texas residents pursuing graduate studies in community college leadership, higher education leadership, or other graduate or professional academic programs. Fellowships are awarded to students focusing on community college leadership, postgraduate level higher education leadership studies. Other fellowship awards are also considered for students focused on postgraduate/graduate education (various fields) at the graduate level.

Lubbock Hispanic Association of Women

Latina women enrolled or seeking enrollment in a school or higher learning can pursue the Lubbock Hispanic Association of Women scholarship. The award is offered to 20 students in the amount of up to $1,000 each. This award can be used to cover books, resident tuition and fees. The deadline application is April 21. Sallie Mae First in My Family Scholarship Program

For the first personal attending college in the family, the Sallie May First in My Family Scholarship Program could be the answer. Applicants must be the first in their family to go for an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Awards range from $500 to $5,000. Applicants must be Hispanic and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States. They need to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be an undergraduate attending school full-time in the United States or Puerto Rico. Financial need must also be demonstrated.

Required documentation includes an official transcript, a letter of recommendation and a resume. Applicants must prove citizenship status and family income. An essay is required along with financial aid verification for semi-finalists. Additional info is available at www.salliemae.com.

Scholarship for Haitian Americans

To break past the financial barriers of obtaining a higher education, the Haitian American Scholarship fund was founded in 2001 and has awarded nearly $90,000 to date. The organization works with institutions of higher education such as the University of Illinois in Urbana and Barry University. Adelante Fund Scholarships

Sponsored by MillerCoors Hispanic Organization for Public Employees (HOPE), Adelante Fund scholarships inspire bright Latinos to graduate through scholarships, leadership development and internships. The scholarship is for junior or senior university students in the renewable amount of $3,000.

Applicants must be a permanent resident or U.S. citizen of Hispanic descent with a minimum GPA of 3.0. For the scholarship period, the student must maintain full-time enrollment status. Two letters of recommendation spotlighting leadership potential are required to apply. Recipients must attend a Partnering Institution and the Adelante’s Annual Leadership Institute in San Antonio, Texas with sponsorship included. Major include General Business, Finance, Communications, Accounting, Public Relations or Sales, Marketing, Economics or International Business.

McDonald’s Hispanic American Commitment to Education Resources (HACER) Program

Southern California Hispanic students may qualify for the McDonald’s HACER Program. More than $3.8 million has been awarded to students in Southern California. Targeted communicated include Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino. Students must have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage to qualify for this scholarship.

Applicants need to have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and be eligible to attend an accredited two- and four-year college, university or vocational school. Applicants cannot be older than twenty-one and must be legal United States residents residing within the geographic limits designated by HACER. Forty scholarships are awarded each year worth $2,000 and with $1,000 renewable for each year up to three years for a total of $5,000. SHIRLEY RODRIGUEZ REMENESKI

The Public Policy and Administrative Scholarship Shirley Rodriguez Remeneski (SRR Scholarship) is named after its founder Shirley Rodriguez Remeneski. It was created to help enrich the college experience for community-minded Latina students who demonstrate leadership skills, academic excellence, and financial need. The SRR Scholarship awards qualified candidates an annual $1,000 annual award for two years of enrollment in a two-year associate degree in public policy and administration, health management, or a public service-related field.

100 Hispanic Women’s Young Latinas Leadership Institute (YLLI)

In 2002, 100 Hispanic Women developed the Young Latinas Leadership Institute (YLLI) to guide Latinas toward excellence. The organization serves women in NYC and the surrounding geographic areas. To date, YLLI has awarded more than $144,000 to 35 Latinas through three-to-four year scholarships.

Applicants must be enrolled in a four-year CUNY college and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. The program is geared for recent high school graduates. Each year, 5 Latinas win these competitive scholarships. Recipients make a three-year commitment to participate in the organization’s activities such as workshops. 100 HISPANIC WOMEN GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (100HW GFP)

The 100 Hispanic Women’s Postgraduate Fellowship (100HWGF) offers up to $2,500 in annual tuition scholarships to qualified candidates and is paid directly to the university for the duration of their master’s or doctoral degree program. All applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement, outstanding character, and a commitment to leadership and service from previous undergraduate or graduate studies.

Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarships

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarships are achievement-based scholarships awarded to senior high school students. Students are recognized for their ability to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact in schools and communities. The Foundation has provided more than $78 million in educational aid to more than 6,600 Coca-Cola Scholars for the 34th year of 2022.
150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.

LULAC National Education Services Centers

Grassroots advocates and corporations come together for LNSF established by LNESC and LULUC to fund educational opportunities for deserving Latino students across the nation. Recipients of these scholarships have become leaders in government, business, education and science. The selection process is rigorous to ensure excellence in the future. Three types of scholarships are offered.

The National Scholastic Achievement Awards of $2,000 is offered to an entering freshman with a GPA of 3.5 or higher at least 29 on the ACT or 1350 on the SAT. The Honors Awards of $500 to $2,000 are awarded to those entering freshmen with a 3.25 GPA or better and a 23 or more on the ACT or 1100 or higher on the SAT. General Awards of $250 to $1,000 are awarded to motivated and sincere individuals with good grades and academic performance as well as community involvement. Haz La U

Haz La U (Make the “U”) is a Colgate-Palmolive Scholarship Program dedicated to the Hispanic Community. Students can apply for one of fifteen competitive educational scholarships. The top recipient receives a one-time award of $15,000 with 14 additional recipients getting a one-time $2,500 scholarship.

Eligible students are Hispanic American and a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident or eligible non-citizen with a minimum GPA of 3.0 planning the full-time pursuit of an undergraduate degree at an accredited two or four year school. Applicants must be freshman and apply for federal financial aid.

TELACU Scholarship Program

Low-income, first-generation students may qualify for the TELACU Scholarship Program in California, New York, Texas and Illinois. The award is given to 500 students each year. There are two types of scholarships.

A continuing scholarship is for students entering college the first time and can be renewed for up to four years. A one-year scholarship is for those who are already in college and students and reapply for it each year. Those who are interested in a business career can take advantage of the Citi/TELACU Scholars Mentoring Program. Students looking for a career in engineering and/or business may consider the Toyota/TELACU Scholarships. There is also a Washington D.C. Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Scholarships (SHPE)

Hispanic students with an interest in a degree in math, science, engineering and technology may apply for up to $2 million in scholarships through Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math and Science (AHETEMS) through SHPE.

Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 and several different scholarships are offered. Options include the AHETEMS Professional Scholarships, ExxonMobil Scholarships, Dissertation Scholarships, Northrop Grumman Scholarships, Kellogg Scholarships, Verizon Scholarships and U.S. Steel Scholarships. All require a minimum GPA of 2.75 with students taking at least 12 credits as an undergraduate or 9 credits as a graduate student.

Manuel Candamo Memorial Scholarship Program

Puerto Rican students can go for the Manuel Candamo Scholarship Program. Awards from $500 to $2,500. Applicants must be Puerto Rican, of Puerto Rican descent or a U.S. citizen residing in Puerto Rico.

To apply, students must be enrolled full-time in an accredited university in the United States or Puerto Rico with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated financial need. Various documentation is required such as an official transcript, essay and proof of citizenship status. Applicants must also provide proof of family income, financial aid verification and a resume. Chicana/Lantina Foundation (Northern California)

If you are a Chicana/Latina woman living in Northern California and plan to attend an accredited college or grad school in the area, you could be one of the thirty students who receive this $1,500 award. Eligibility requirements include at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrated leadership ability, and past civic/community involvement. You must have also already completed at least one semester or quarter as a full-time college student. In exchange for the award, recipients are required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours for the Chicana/Latina Foundation. Hispanic Heritage Foundation

As an Hispanic women looking for funding for either undergraduate or graduate studies, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation is one resource you don’t want to ignore! They offer a range of scholarships every year in different amounts, and at various times of the year – you might even qualify for more than one if you apply early enough. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Latina

For many years, Lambda Theta Nu has been dedicated to helping Latino women achieve their academic goals by providing financial support. Awarded $40,000 in scholarships to 10 Latino women pursuing higher education for the 2020-2021 school year. Latina Leadership Network of the California Community Colleges

The Latina Leadership Network gives ten $500 scholarships to Latina students who will be enrolled in California community colleges. Eligibility requirements include a GPA of 2.5 based on a 4.0 system. Website is http://latina-leadership-network.org/wp/awards.

Minority Undergraduate Physics Majors

The American Physical Society and IBM co-sponsor two undergraduate research internship programs. APS/IBM Research Internships for undergraduate women and APS/IBM Research Internships for minority students. The goal of this internship is to encourage women and minorities to pursue graduate studies in science and engineering. Any student identified as a female or ethnic minority can apply for both internships.
Targeting minority students, which include both women and those of Hispanic heritage, you will need an excellent record of scholastic achievement, as well as high ACT or SAT scores. You must be a sophomore or junior standing at a US college or university at the time of application.

Take a Chance

Students have nothing to lose and everything to gain by applying for scholarships. It is best to apply for several scholarships at the same time to ensure the possibility of higher education. Scholarships for Hispanic women are specifically geared toward these students. This lowers the number of potential applicants and possibly increases the chances of winning an award.
